“Hero Bands” will be offered to the public at
LI Stop & Shop supermarkets
All proceeds to help wounded vets transition back to civilian life
Responding to a clear and evident need revealed during hearings held last month by Congressman Steve Israel and US Senator Hillary Clinton, on Thursday, June 23rd at 10:30 a.m. the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes and Stop & Shop Supermarkets will announce plans to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to directly assist disabled and wounded veterans of the War on Terror in transitioning back to civilian life. The news conference will be held at the American Airpower Museum at Republic Airport, 1230 New Highway, Farmingdale, where the two organizations will unveil “Hero Wristbands” which will be offered to the public for $2 with 100% of the proceeds going to assist the veteran.
They will be joined by disabled veterans of the War on Terror and veterans from prior conflicts who seek to demonstrate their solidarity.
THE WRISTBAND: The stars on this wristband represent the five ongoing initiatives of the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes, dedicated to aiding seriously wounded and disabled veterans.
THE COALITION: The Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes is a non-partisan 501(c) (3) organization, created to provide an easy and meaningful way for individuals, corporations and others to help our severely wounded veterans and their families rebuild their lives. The Coalition is driven by five ongoing initiatives: to help build and retrofit homes for wheelchair-restricted and disabled heroes; to give emergency financial aid; to offer family support services; to provide job training and placement opportunities; and to honor their sacrifices at the annual “Road to Recovery Tribute.”
